Benefits of Volunteering

At Project PLASE, we work hard to ensure our volunteers have rewarding experiences. We want our volunteers to come away from their time at Project PLASE with an increased understanding and knowledge of homelessness and a greater interest in community service. Volunteering also brings networking opportunities, increased self-awareness, and personal satisfaction.

Hear What Our Volunteers Have to Say!

"To me, Project PLASE means Progress! It has given me the opportunity to make a positive mark in my city. People always say that you can learn so much about yourself when you help others. Project PLASE is constantly proving that statement!"
-Julia S., Volunteer

Volunteer Opportunities

Be a part of our Board of Directors

Project PLASE is looking for a few good men and women to serve on our Board of Directors and Advisory Committee. We need professionals and retired persons who are passionate about advocating for the homeless and free to financially support our work. PLASE especially wants people with professional experience in housing development, real estate, marketing, events planning, graphic design and public relations.

Regularly Scheduled Direct Service Activities

Project PLASE offers a variety of volunteer opportunities ranging from one time events to ongoing projects. Some volunteers commit one hour per week for four weeks, while others volunteer for six-month or one-year positions. Our volunteer projects include activites such as mentoring and tutoring residents, participating in social activities, moving residents, providing arts and crafts instruction, repairing or maintaining our buildings, facilitating exercise or relaxation classes (yoga, walking, tai chi), and leading self-esteem groups. Such programs have a powerful impact on our clients, staff and volunteers!

Special Needs Opportunities

Project PLASE has volunteer positions that can accomodate community members with special needs. Some possible volunteer projects include: helping us to solicit items from the our wish list, collecting items for upcoming events, organizing special drives, and sending out thank-you letters.
