PLASE at 35: A Successful Celebration of the Past and Steps toward a Brighter Future

PLASE Turns 35
Our Saturday, November 14th celebration marked a significant milestone for Project PLASE as well as our staff, donors, volunteers, board members, founders and community partners who made it possible for us to make it to year 35! We enjoyed a great evening full of celebration, reflection on the past 35 years and inspiration from our speakers- Board President Dr. Branch, Executive Director Mary Slicher, and Keynote Speaker John Corcoran. In the process, we reached our fundraising goal of $10,000 and attracted new volunteers, sponsors and donors.

Thanks to our Sponsors
We particularly thank our Gala Sponsors for making our 35th Anniversary Gala such a success: KCI Technologies as our Gold Sponsor, DEX Imaging and AFN&W as our Silver Sponsors and RJP and Bon Secours as our Bronze Sponsors.

Looking Forward
In this climate of economic hardship, the enthusiastic turnout to the gala, the presentation of the Governor’s Citation to our Executive Director, Mary Slicher, and the ongoing encouragement from all PLASE supporters has reaffirmed the relevance and importance of the work we do at Project PLASE. As 2009 comes to a close, we not only celebrate our past accomplishments, but we also look to you to help us move forward with our mission to serve Baltimore’s most vulnerable homeless citizens.

See our Photo Album for some of the highlights of the event.

DID YOU KNOW?

In no state does a full-time minimum wage job cover the costs of a one-bedroom unit at Fair Market Rent, and in 45 states and the District of Columbia, families would need to earn at least double the minimum wage in order to afford a two-bedroom unit at Fair Market Rent. (Out of Reach: Can America Pay the Rent?, via the National Coalition for the Homeless).
