Purses for PLASE

littlegirlbag

Each year, PLASE collects new and gently used purses to sell at our Purses for PLASE booth, which for four years in a row has flourished at Mt. Vernon’s annual Flowermart. Due to overwhelming success at Flowermart 2010, we will be collecting purses YEAR ROUND and participating in new festivals! We strongly encourage office purse drives, and we can arrange to pick up large quantities of purses if needed. To start a drive or donate individually, contact our Development Projects Manager at 410-837-1400 x 15 or email us. Upcoming Purses for PLASE events:

United Way

If you make contributions to United Way through your place of employment, simply designate Project PLASE as the beneficiary of your contribution using the following codes:

In Kind - Furniture, Clothing, & Other

Please look at our wish list for details about the items we need most.

We accept both clothing and furniture donations at PLASE. Our residents and families can always use toiletries and other household items. When you donate to Project PLASE, your goods donations go directly to help our clients outfit their homes and their new lives.

Donation receipts are available M-F between 8am and 4pm at the reception desk at 1814 Maryland Avenue.

Furniture Donations
Unfortunately, we are currently not accepting donations of new and gently used furniture unless the donor is able to coordinate moving the furniture with his/her own vehicle. Please contact us for more information. We provide receipts for in-kind furniture donations. You can help us help others by donating your used van or truck to help move donated furniture items!

Goodwill

Clothing Donations
Through our new partnership with Goodwill Industries, Project PLASE is accepting men’s, women’s and children’s clothing donations once again! Shoes, purses, and other accessories are welcome. The Goodwill clothing drop-off bin is located behind our 1814 Maryland Avenue building. Each time our bin fills up, PLASE residents receive Goodwill store vouchers which they can use to pick out the specific items and sizes they need! By donating at PLASE, you will provide someone with the dignity to choose clothing in line with their own style and need.

Professional Clothing Donations
We are in a partnership with Million Dollar Man (MDM) and Dress for Success to provide professional clothing for our male and female residents. To make donations of professional clothing, please visit their websites for more information.

Community Investment Tax Credits

Through the Community Investment Tax Credit program, individuals and businesses can help Project PLASE deliver housing and hope to Baltimore’s most vulnerable homeless citizens. To learn more about obtaining tax credits for yourself or your company, please click here.

Your donation helps

While Project PLASE does receive funds from various federal and local sources, donations made by individuals are an essential part of how we meet client needs and operating costs. Your donation can help fund a bed for a veteran struggling with PTSD, can ensure that a family in permanent housing receives the supportive services they need to stay off the street and can provide undereducated individuals with the time, space and instruction to learn their first letters in our GED class. Ultimately, your donation will help us to do our best work for our clients and offer them all that we are able Your generous donation changes lives.

DID YOU KNOW?

According to SAMHSA's Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS), more than 120,000 admissions to substance abuse treatment in 2000 were homeless at time of admission. Admissions who were homeless were more likely to be veterans and were older (average age 38 years) than admissions who were not homeless (age 33).
