mission

Project PLASE, Inc. addresses homelessness in Baltimore by providing transitional housing, permanent housing and supportive services to homeless adults. We serve the most vulnerable and underserved, including persons with mental illness, HIV/AIDS, addiction, developmental disabilities, and ex-offenders, etc. We treat, restore and rehabilitate the whole person. We empower each individual to function at the highest level possible.

vision

To eliminate homelessness.

philosophy

Our philosophy is to stand with and serve marginalized and underprivileged individuals and families who lack access to resources in the larger community. We help persons in need through a philosophical and practical approach of advocacy. Advocacy by definition means "speaking on behalf of." In practice, it means accessing and developing resources to meet basic human needs.

We incorporate three levels of advocacy in the work we do at Project PLASE:

front line advocacy

  • Accessing the existing human services system
  • Helping clients utilize and move through the human services system
  • Working with clients using the principle of equality and equal access to the community

second level advocacy

  • Educating the community
  • Developing new resources

third level advocacy

  • Building coalitions
  • Changing or influencing new legislation or legal mandates and system policy change
